This animation shows the development of COVID-19 in the United States. Starting with the first 100th confirmed case in a single county on March 12, the virus has spread quickly since. We represent every 100 confirmed cases with a black circle at its corresponding location. This animation provides an alternative way of showing the exponential spread of the virus. Additionally, at specific dates, we display US President Trump's tweets and statements to show his response to the crisis as it develops. American overseas territories are not shown and reflected on statistics. Quotes are taken from Twitter, BBC, and Spiegel.de.
